The telecom giant TDC recently sold Boomtown to the Egyptian telecommunications company AA Technologies as of 1 February 2008.
"We want to focus on TDS’s core business within telecommunications and managing gaming cafés is not a natural part of our present strategy. Therefore, we are very happy that we have found a buyer, we already know and that want to develop the Boomtown brand and run the cafés,” says Jesper Bjerre, Senior Vice President of TDC in the company’s press release.
In the future TDC will focus on online games on the Internet as an integrated part of TDC’s strategy in which collaboration with Boomtown will continue especially regarding the competition of becoming Denmark’s Best Gamer in 2008.
Boomtown includes three gaming cafés placed in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense and the employees will all continue in AA Technologies. Egyptian based AA Technologies offers value added services within telecommunications and general manager A. Iskander is pleased that the company is to develop the Boomtown-concept worldwide.
